This gorgeous Strawberry Hill Gothic house, with land and livestock, is a thriving teaching centre and festival venue. It hosts the annual Wood eco-festival (and numerous others), retreats and conferences, workshops and residential courses, and occasionally is available for weddings, though these last are limited to 6 per year. Course participants are usually invited to take (locally produced) meals with the community. There is a whole range of accommodation options, from the 15 acre campsite to one of 27 bedrooms in the house itself. There's a Barn that will take 150 people for a ceilidh, and several different teaching rooms with capacities from 45 for a lecture to 8 for yoga. The rooms are not modern but the whole house has a classical dignity which is quite thrilling. Moderate drinkers are welcome to bring their own alcohol. A flip chart, projector, CD player and DVD player are available on request. In the house, only ecologically sound cleaning products are used, and the campsite has rather splendid fully-functional composting toilets.
