We found this pub expensive and seriously lacked any form of entertainment. It appeared to be operated on a very low budget. Friday night there were around 20 people, mainly a lot older and fairly intoxicated. Down stairs, which used to be great, is now closed.

Used to be a friendly pub. Has a dance area downstairs that is too dark with outdated music and usually empty. Upstairs is lighter and nicer. Unfortunately I have recently found the welcome to be not that welcoming.
Lively and friendly Gay pub, has recently been refurbished giving it a trendy 'bar' feel. Have also recently started doing food which is great value, especially the Sunday roasts!

They also run a monthly girls night Girl Friday in their cellar bar which is very popular with the ladies and a weekly Cocktail night on a Saturday. With friendy bar staff and a welcoming atmosphere the Castle Tavern is my favourite Oxford Gay pub, 10 out of 10 :)
I've been to this club and I just love it. It's perfect for dancing and to meet some nice guys. The staff are so sweet :) I like one of them :) he is so cute!! I've met one group of nice guys one of them is from London, so cute, so nice I just love him [X]. So if you are gay and want to go somewhere, go there to "The Castle Tavern" - it's perfect, it's good fun, you are gonna love it. I'm there every Saturday and sometimes Friday - see you there! [X]

Sister bar to the Jolly Farmers round the corner, the front pub area of the Castle Tavern is nothing really to write home about. It has a small-ish L-shaped bar area with a juke-box with all the staple gay tunes and a very reasonably priced (but nothing special) menu.
Never been to the late bar part of pub but there are worst places to have a swift pint in the centre of town
