We loved the show. Full of warmth and humanity and great songs. A previous reviewer says it's too near the truth to be turned into a song and dance act. Since when is song and dance not a serious way to express emotions and serious issues? The production and music had an integrity and only made these issues more illuminating, I thought. Andrea (Unverified), 08/06/07 I didn't know what to expect as my daughter and I like the book and TV series so much, but Tracy Beaker Gets Real was great fun and very well staged. I loved the music, the cast were excellent and worked well together and I especially like Alice Redmond's voice. A great night out at Malvern Theatre Jude (Unverified), 03/05/07 I really enjoy Tracey Beaker and I love Tracey Beaker Gets Real. lozzie (Unverified), 27/01/07 A young girl, unable to cope with motherhood abandons her child. This child, Tracy, is taken into a care home (The Dumping Gound)where her social worker's atempts to foster Tracy fail becuase of Tracy's anger at being deserted, combined with Tracy's desire to live in a fantasy world where her mother is a successful film star. As each failed fostering brings Tracy back to the Dumping Ground, leaving Tracy feeling rejected and useless, her social worker decides to advertise that she needs a foster parent for a girl with behavioural problems. Who on earth thought that this was a good subject to make into a musical comedy for kids? It was harrowing - and to near the truth for many children to be turned into a song and dance act.
