The film portrays how powerful the clans in Naples have become and how deeply entangled with Italy's economy and politics their business is. Unfortunately, this problem is NOT only confined to Naples. Their power has not only infiltrated major businesses and corporations in the richer North of Italy but they also have strong connections with crime organisations worldwide (Colombia, Argentina, Hungary, China, and many others). The bosses of the clan are so powerful that the author of the book on which the film is based, Roberto Saviano, has lived under permanent police surveillance for the last 2 years because of death threats, and a plan to kill him before Christmas has just been revealed in today's Italian papers. Everyone should watch this film!

It's better to clarify that is not Italy but Naples. Gomorrah stand for Camorra: the Napolitanean mafia which control economy and politics in the Naples reagion. From the movie you can clearly see how organised crime is backed up by people and that's why is so difficoult to fight. It shows very well also how youngsters get trained and how businesses are effected. Again, this situation is only in Naples reagion where, after the book about this movie became a bestseller in Italy, the Govenment sent the army in order to regain control of the territory.
