Desperately overrated film. Reminded me of an episode of Wallander or Taggart or something... Would have thought better of it if it had been on TV; on the big screen it's bad - a mild thriller with ambitions to significances and a weird drunken friend from another plotline. A love story intertwines with a rape/murder case in a time of political turmoil in Argentina. IgorStrav (DI User), 02/09/10 I've read nothing but praise for this movie - perhaps I saw a different movie? Dull, clunky ridiculous plot, it has more false endings than Lost. It pulls in Argentina's ruthless political background halfway through to liven things up, but even that feels contrived. [WARNING- SPOILERS MAY FOLLOW- Ed.] The ending is a shocker. The baddy gets his just desserts and our goodies live happily ever after, and we (there were 4 of us) get our numb back sides back (2hrs10mins) and an opportunity to laugh outside the cinema at those Oscar judges who may have had a visit from an Argentinian junta!
