The Descendants [15]

Distant father takes on care of his daughters after his wife's accident.

I expected more, given all the golden globes, but I did enjoy seeing Clooney in a 'normal' low key role and the intriguing landscape of Hawaii. I think i would have identified more with the 'normal' tone of the story if the older daughter wasn't a teen model. The younger one is very funny though.

I agree with Quixote: this is a fine film that explores the complexities of the human condition with poignancy and humour. I felt empathy with just about all the characters here!

Since no one else is willing to disagree with moviemoghul, I'll write a few words myself. I thought this was a fine movie with George Clooney on top form. It had a story and explored a whole gamut of emotions in a very touching way. Some of the superficialities of American lifestyle were acutely observed. Don't be put off by mm - go and watch it!

Oh dear! If you can stay awake, there are a few interesting takes on how a "family" copes with bereavement. But overall this is a pretty dull movie, and possibly the poorest bit of acting you could see from George Clooney... he's just in too many films these days for you not to get bored of him eventually. Maybe he should stay on in Hawaii and re-charge his batteries...or better still send everyone who managed to sit through this film a free return ticket to paradise ... lost.
