There have been many, many adaptations of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. It has graced our cinema & TV screens, and theatres across the country pretty much since it was published. And yet few adaptations have managed to match the peerless quality of The Muppet Christmas Carol, which for a certain generation is the Christmas movie to watch every year. A strange prospect initially, it marries Dickens' story with the puppetry genius of Jim Henson's Company, even throwing in a proper actor in the form of Sir Michael Caine.

Released two years after Jim Henson's untimely death and directed by his son, Brian, The Muppet Christmas Carol has both the sorrow of the original story, as well as the slapstick comedy and musical numbers of the muppets at their finest. It is funny and educational, silly and sad, the perfect film to watch at any time of the year, but particularly at Christmas.
