I have to admit, I was not expecting to see this show, nor was I planning to either! I have heard of the Heather Brothers pastiche to the 1960's and frankly, I wasn't interested! I have to say however, that after being accosted in Woodstock on Saturday morning by the cast and offered a ticket, I couldnt really refuse - and what a decision that was.
I learnt from the program that this was the first production by MAC productions, and what a way to start! The direction was slick, choreography was well timed and meant something with the music, and the cast as a whole put on a superb display.
The music flowed from one familiar track to another, with some obvious changes to help with copyright, and was sung superbly. The opening number was full of energy and fun and the show continued in the same vein throughout.
Beutiful vocal by Kate Wilkins, Claire Cattel and Guy Grimsley. Standout comedy from Phil Weller and Alex Williams, and some lovely parts from the rest of this extremely talented cast. Well worth a watch, and if this is the standard that MAC Productions works to, I will certainly be buying tickets to whatever comes next!
5*!
