I’ve enjoyed reading the novel Nobble Hospital of the Aegean by Paul Judges, which is mainly set on a small, relatively unspoilt Greek island. The title of the book was a little confusing at first, but all becomes clear !
As a regular visitor to Greece the small details of life there are authentically and beautifully described, and should inspire anyone who hasn’t been to plan a visit.
Without giving too much away, the story follows a man facing a crisis that causes him to reflect on life. There are many amusing interactions with locals, and reminiscences about earlier times.
Love is the powerful emotion that pervades the book, and also the hope of healing and finally finding a contented way of life.
Something different and worthwhile.
