I have mixed feelings about this place. I booked this place for my parents because of its location and because the restaurant is so fantastic. However, the two nights they stayed in this place, there was heavy rain. The roof leaked and their suitcases got wet, as did their bed. Breakfast is just toast and cereal. The owner is very nice. supersaps (Unverified), 01/10/06
We really liked the Richmond. When we got there, there was no problem at all with getting the room. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Breakfast was excellent, right down to the option of having Lebanese breakfast instead of a "classic" English one. An added bonus is that the hotel is linked to an excellent Lebanese restaurant! The room was large and very good value for money given the fact that the hotel is so close to the city centre. The next time we're in Oxford, we'll definitely be staying at the Richmond again!

We booked 3 weeks ahead. When we showed up they had given our room away. They had not bothered to call us to let us know that this had happened. The owner took 90 minutes to turn up to deal with the problem. By then we had booked a room in another place for the evening ourselves, as it was 8:00pm on a Friday night. This was a big weekend in Oxford and accommodation was scarce, so we were only able to get that one night. The owner comped us dinner at the restaurant, which was nice. He told us that he would find us a room the next day and that we should call him at around 11:00am. He also gave us a ride to our new hotel. When we called the next day he told us there had been no cancellations at his hotel. He gave us ONE name and number for a place that he assured us had a room. It did not. After that he did not answer his cell phone. He did nothing else to help us find accommodation. We spent an hour calling around trying to find a place that had a room available. We finally found one place, The Malmaison, which had one room at £150 a night. The Malmaison was more than we wanted to pay, but was a wonderful place. I would not recommend The Richmond.
