What's the Cornerstone like as a venue?
We were impressed with the Arts Centre which opened in August 2008. It is located centrally in Didcot, with at least 3 car parks nearby and is near the cinema and shopping precinct. Prior to evening performances there is a popular colourful café open which serves a choice of 3 different light, reasonably priced, meals. However, there was a long queue of diners waiting to pay just before the show began. Pre-booking of drinks for the interval is available. There are studios for dance and art displays but these did not seem to be open when we visited in the evening. Although the reception desk and cloakroom are downstairs, the main auditorium is upstairs and seats approximately 400 people. It is also accessible by lift. As the rows of comfortable seats are reasonably steeply tiered, virtually all have an excellent view of the large, well-lit stage. It is an excellent venue and has the capacity to host first rate acts. It certainly compares favourably with other local theatre venues. Arthur Dangerfield (Unverified), 12/11/09 |
