On first appearance it looks like a shabby old pub, though there are signs of some work, but once you walk inside you find yourself in a smart modern restuarant with lots of the old character features still evident. The staff greated us with warmth and were very welcoming. We had three children with us and they were treated like little princes and princesses. Within minutes of being seated they had taken our drink orders and baskets of poppadums and bowls of accompliments had been brought out. The menu has all the usual dishes you'd expect, but has many lesser known ones and some unique ones as well. There are a number of duck and fish dishes too, which looked very promising. To start we ordered a spicy fish starter, a number of onion bhajis and a lamb tikka kebab, which came out on a sizzling platter. For mains we ordered korma for the children, a lamb tikka jalfrezi, a hot chicken dish which we'd never heard of but was made with chillis, curry leaves and red peppers, a chicken dupiazi, lamb bhuna and a chicken kashmiri. We had a selection of naans and rice dishes to accompany them. All the food we had was fantastic, very flavoursome, the meat being cooked just right so that it wasn't tough, but lovely and tender. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, and all thought it was the best Indian meal we had had in a long time. razzle (Unverified), 21/02/10 Please fill in the boxes and then click "Send Review" to submit your review for Moti Mahal. | |
