Great shop, but they really should offer gift vouchers. Noe (Unverified), 05/05/12 I think this shop is amazing. Love all the sweets and chocolate from Mainland Europe too! I hope to go in and take loads of photos and promote this place on my blog. Annie (Unverified), 06/02/11 Wonderful shop with really friendly staff. I have to keep going back to introduce friends and relatives to the amazing range of sweeties from my childhood. They even have sugar free versions if your conscience demands it, though all good intentions may fly out the window once you step through the door! Clever Clogs (Unverified), 27/11/10 Thought I had died and gone to sweet heaven. The best sweet shop I have ever been in (and I've been in quite a few). Can't wait to go back to stock up for Christmas. Lee (Unverified), 06/08/10 You can't miss this place. Where Waterfield's Bookshop used to be (sniff) is a riot of colour, a hothouse kalleidoscope of lollipops, boiled sweets, chewy sweets, stretchy sweets, sweet sticks, sweet drops and chocolates. Lots of old favourites from your childhood (fizzy cola bottles, Pez, sherbet dibdabs, flumps) rub shoulders with even older favourites from your grandparents' childhood (liquorice pipes, peanut brittle, chocolate buttons, lavender sweets). And there are a few bits of weirdness for fun, like the absinthe flavour drops. And you can get not only liquorice bootlaces but huge liquorice cables! There are several kinds of chocolate available, but for artisanal stuff you'd be better off in the Covered Market [See our Shopping for Chocolate section - Ed]. This is for cheap and cheerful. The staff are friendly and helpful and seem to know their stock very well - if you can find almost what you want but not quite, it's worth asking them because they'll probably have the right version in a jar somewhere. I have to say, if I worked there, the relentlessly cheery music (Disney Hollywood circa 1950) would drive me insane, but perhaps I'm just not sweet enough!
