The proud home of the Harwell cherry, Q Gardens boasts a farm shop, including a new deli selling cheeses, pies, sausage rolls etc. (open 9am-6pm daily); a tea room (9am-4pm daily, serving hot food until 2.30pm) and a butchers (9am-6pm daily). PYO & ready picked fruit, open officially 9am-4.30pm although on the odd gorgeous summer evening the farm does stay open to as late as 7pm. The Asparagus season is, as ever, sporadic, although officially it begins on the 13th April. The soft fruits are ready towards the end of May. There are two PYO sites, one behind the farm shop and a hut across the road - the latter only accepts cash. The farm attends local farmers' markets (including Headington) May to September and particularly specialises in cherries (it is the home of the Harwell cherry); other favourites include strawberries, raspberries, currants, blackberries, gooseberries, plums, damsons, greengages, apples and pears. This season lasts for approximately three months. Cherry PYO from end June. Seasonal produce calendar. Opening hours: 9am-4.30pm. | ||
