Popular, friendly den of hairy biker types. Rock DJs most nights of the week. Occasional acoustic performances. Rumours of closure autumn 2008; has since risen phoenix-like from ashes, looking much the same. Karaoke Monday nights. Opening hours: 1am fri+sat, otherwise midnight. Games: We're told this is not a Jenga sort of pub, but there is a House Of The Dead arcade machine.. Regular Sunday quiz. Next events at The Gloucester Arms

Oxfords premier rockers pub. Rock DJs most nights - lots of Pantera and Metalica with beautiful little patches of Pink Floyd. Stand Out Nights: On Thursday the Gloucester acts as the meet up point for all the rockers off to Sabotage at the Zodiac. Jack (Unverified), 20/07/05 Some of the tags/categories need to be removed from this pub. I could be wrong but I don't think it's ever had a real fire. No one plays Jenga or other board games (however there is a quiz machine and a House Of The Dead arcade machine). Also they stopped serving food a few months ago. Beyond that it's still a nice pub, not too bright, not over crowded, reasonable beer prices and great music on the juke box. Only events are The Sunday Night Quiz and Monday Night Karaoke (don't worry it's not all metal). [Tags have been updated. Thanks! - Ed.] The Dancingman (DI User), 06/02/12 In response to a comment dated 22/04/08 It has not closed down. I only discovered it yesterday but it seems like a great pub. The Jukebox has a great collection of music and even includes some of the local bands in Oxford. It also sells real tasty burgers. Their burger menu is a similar idea to Atomic Burger where you have a choice between beef or vegi burger and you get a choice of interesting toppings. I chose the The Vegitarian Italian Burger with Curly Fries. My friend wasn't eating much but did try some of my fries and really liked them. I know it's a metal pub and the general stereotype is for everything to be dark and slightly miserable, but the Gloc appears to revel in it a bit too much. The pub feels very dated and looks really quite shabby, the whole place is in need of a bit of a re-fit or at least a jolly good clean. The gents toilets were pretty grim aswell. best point is a really good juke box with plenty of 70's rock and 90's metal. Joe B (Unverified), 19/08/07 A REAL pub, alway get a friendly welcome. The quiz nights are great fun and get everyone involved. There is always a full age range of people in there. Good music on the jukebox and DJ was brilliant. M.M.
