We travelled a significant ditance from outside the city to sample the new Thai menu at the Radcliffe Arms. There's a major shortage of such eateries in central Oxford, which is unfortunately the domain of chains and expensive over-priced eateries. We're always on the look-out for places that are welcoming, homely and not outrageously priced, and the R.A. did not disappoint. We tried out the Green Curry with prawns and a lovely dish whose Thai name on the menu (always a good sign!) now evades me, but the first on the menu with peppers, courgettes and bamboo shoots! Fabulous. Cooked to perfection with lovely slices of big red chilles and succulent chicken. The food was quick, fresh and plentiful..oh, and did I say reasonably priced? You'll have change from £8.00 for a main. If you're loooking for the brisk white-cloth service of Chiang Mai I'm afraid you'll be disappointed, however, if you're looking for yummy food in a no-nonsense locals' pub give them a try. They're just round the corner from the Phoenix Cinema and dare I suggest a pre-film bite - you'll be in and out with a tummy full of Thai loveliness and change in your pocket for a trailer ice-cream afterwards! Bradley, 20/02/10 The Radcliffe Arms is now under new management. We look forward to reading future reviews. Alwyn Collinson @DailyInfo, 10/10/09 Seriously nice pub and a significant discovery one cold and foggy evening when lost in Jericho. I wonder about giving it a good review - will that wreck it? So I won't. [that's about as good a review as it gets, folks] Steve P, 22/12/06
