I have to say I was rather dubious upon entering Kukui because as an Oxford regular I had known the previous club there to be a bit of a dive. But what a transformation. I love the tiki theme - it makes a night out so much more visually satisfying, sat next to the massive fish tank and sipping really tasty cocktails. It's never too crowded either so you can chat with friends or dance away. One problem though is the smoking garden (or currently lack of). I hope this gets sorted as I hate having to stand in the rain every time I want a fag. Also the table service is a must. We booked a tiki hut for my friend's birthday and the waitress service was perfect. A great club with a real touch of class.

Wow! What a great new nightclub in Oxford! I have been getting fairly bored with the same nights and bad service at most of Oxford's nightclubs so I thought I'd give this new place a go. Honestly, it's very good, bringing a touch of upmarket London style but without being elitist or snobbish with its customers. Getting into the club was fairly easy, the door staff were polite and welcoming which is definitely a change from other venues in Oxford. I was then greeted by one of Kukui's gorgeous tiki waitresses. Seriously guys - they are hot!! :-) The interior of the place is amazing too - it's tiki-themed with bamboo running throughout the club with thatched rooves and a massive fish tank, although there didn't seem to be many fish in the tank!? The cocktail menu is very good with loads of different drinks to try - I saw some being served in water melons and pinapples, but stuck with the rum punch, which was tasty. The crowd seemed to be a nice mix of young and old but all with a carefree attitude and looking to dance and have fun; the music was a mix of house/pop and rock and a few 80s tracks to keep the oldies happy I guess. My few complaints: the queue for the coat check was quite long which was annoying and the men's toilets were a little messy towards the end of the night, but overall this was a great night out. Definitely recommended. clubberguy (Unverified), 11/11/08
I LOVE THIS PLACE!! Definitely the most exciting thing to hit Oxford in a long time. Beautiful people, brilliant tunes, amazing cocktails - all in all an amazing night out.

The cocktails are better than (*name of very good local cocktail bar deleted* - Ed)'s...and they have a live shark tank! Easily the classiest venue in Oxford. :)

Apparently there'll be a new Brookes student night called Bamboo on Mondays at this place once it opens.
