The people at Rajasthan make outstandingly tasty food - they really know what they're doing. I keep coming back and I never tire of it. I particularly recommend the chicken chat and the lamb bhuna. P.S. If you like beer or wine with your curry then don't forget to bring your own. JakF (Unverified), 07/11/11 Highly recommended! We went to Rajasthan at random not sure what to expect. We weren't aware of the 'bring a bottle' policy so were taken by surprise-tThey really should make more of this as we would have been more than happy about it if we had known! Also the music could have been louder as we felt quite conspicuous in the small restaurant. These small issues aside, I can safely say we were blown away by the quality of the food! There is some real talent in the kitchen, offering what is possibly the best Indian food I have had in Oxford! Tilda (DI User), 22/10/11 Visited the Rajasthan on 11/9/11 and was delighted to find it run by the next generation of Kashmir Halal fame: same BYO policy and smiling staff but much better decor. The popadoms were not the crispest but the dips were new and interesting and the food portions plentiful, well presented and delicious. The garlic naan was a masterpiece! All dishes were well spiced and each with its own distinctive fresh flavour: not at all greasy. Complementary onion bhaji also went down well. No room for other starters or sweets but we went home very happy and we'll be sure to come back soon. Tell your friends! This business deserves to succeed and not be lumped together with other mediocre fare offered on Cowley Rd. Dan&Ben (Unverified), 13/09/11 Wonderful, tasty and generous portion sizes. Very good value for money and they use really good cuts of meat and the vegetables are fresh and delicious as well. The best Indian restaurant I've ever been to, the food is absolutely amazing. They have a huge selection of traditional and chef's special dishes, so you can try something a little different. Can't recommend this place enough. Just discovered it a few weeks ago and have already been there 3 times for takeaways and once for a dine in! goodeats (Unverified), 06/08/11 Excellent food and service. Beautifully presented and good value. It is a lovely place for a small group and you can take your own wine. Wouldn't go anywhere else for a curry! shilts (Unverified), 31/07/11 The best Indian food in Oxford. What does best mean? Well, it's fresh, light, flavourful and a lot of the dishes taste like home food. The staff are attentive and very friendly, which makes for an even better experience. It's perfect for small groups! I would highly recommend it. 02/04/11 Definitely the best curry in Oxford, and great service, prompt, friendly and not overbearing. Gina (Unverified), 23/03/11 A really good curry. Very tasty pickles and sauces with popadoms. My Lamb curry (I forget the name) was very tender lamb, cooked with fresh herbs. My friends' curries were also good, much above the usual sweet and oily food of most indian restaurants. The Staff were also very friendly. We will be heading back soon. Jambi (Unverified), 07/03/11 Went in on a wet Friday night to meet some friends. Food was excellent, and had some more unusual dishes as well as the curry house standards. In fact we couldn't understand why it was so empty as the food was so good - but it did seem to be a busy night for the takeaways. Perhaps the rain was keeping people in, as the Cowley road seemed pretty quiet that night. Service was friendly and attentive, and they didn't rush us at all. Will definitely go back again next time we're in the area. MLC (Unverified), 27/02/11 Went with a group of 15. Wasn't the cheapest place at £14.50 a head for the set meal, but the food was really good and they brought out loads - poppadoms, starters, mains, rice, naan and lots of sides, and they even threw in tea and coffee. Service was great, really friendly and didn't rush us at all. The best curry I've had in Oxford. BG (Unverified), 10/12/10 I can't contain my enthusiasm for the Rajasthan. The food (at least the dishes I have tried so far) stands out from the offerings of the crowd of curry houses that inhabit Cowley Road as being especially excellent. It is truly a pleasure to be able to savour the rich variety of flavours combined in some of their more exotic dishes, as well as the familiar favourites. This is what Indian restaurants should be like. It doesn't have a large dining area and its location on the bottom end of Cowley Road means that it is often less busy than it deserves to be, but anyone wanting a superior culinary experience should definitely give it try! RJ (Unverified), 04/12/10 I've eaten from here twice- once delivery, once in the restaurant- and have loved it both times. Rajasthan is a great new restaurant with an excellent selection at decent prices. Free delivery and open until 11 are also pluses. Try some of the madras with the peshwari naan- so good! JH (Unverified), 25/11/10 I decided to try Rajasthan on the recommendation of a friend, who had been in shortly after it opened and touted the "best vindaloo" she'd ever had. She was not mistaken! From spicy vindaloo to fragrant naan and sweet poppadoms, the food at Rajasthan is without question unparalleled in Oxford! Unlike the uniform curry joints that line central Oxford, offering crew dates and greasy curries with a river's worth of oil, Rajasthan offers fantastic, complex flavors at reasonable prices. The service was friendly and personable. While the place is just starting up now, and hasn't developed a customer base (a real shame!) - this place is an undiscovered treat, and bound to be one of the city's best Indians!
