Ovisher Tandoori

Interesting reading the review from 2010 because I'm pretty sure that Ovishir has a new chef. They have a new menu since 2011 and the food was absolutely fantastic last time. Best Indian in Oxford now.

Great atmosphere and the staff are very welcoming. However, I have now been three times and I'm just not that impressed with the food. I think the chef might have got lazy or disillusioned. It's OK, don't get me wrong, and maybe I have been spoilt with the Nepalese curry houses in London. I also like the Ovisher because they support a local netball team as well; the food has to improve though, because it's very samey.

I endorse what Ben has said in the review above: very friendly and welcoming. Like so many other Indian restaurants, however, meat and poultry dishes contain the cheapest ingredients: I would avoid lamb and beef as they are too scraggy. You get what you pay for, however, and I think this restaurant is reasonable value for money.

One of Kidlington's two excellent restaurants. Ovisher is the larger of the two, with very friendly, welcoming and attentive staff. My measure of this is always what happens when you return a couple of months later and the manager greets you like a regular!
