I can't really agree with the last 2 reviews (though I'm all for a poetry night). I have found Mango's to be a fairly dull cocktail bar thats lacks any sort of spark. The female bar tender knew her cocktails and served them with skill and efficiency (though she was the only person serving meaning other people had to wait an age to get served), but I found the overall experience rather life-less. It just feels like a room that someone has chucked some sofas and tables into and plonked a bar at one side. Like the short-lived Globe bar before it, i'll be surprised to see Mango's last another year.
Joe B, 14/03/07 Every other Tuesday, starting with the first Tuesday in each month, there is live open-mike performance poetry and music under the banner of “Anything Goes at Mangos”. This is run by Sparky or the Half Moon’s “Sparky’s Flying Circus” fame and is a stage for many of the finest poets and musicians in Oxford. It starts at about 8:30, 9:00 pm and ends around 11:30, midnight. Well worth a visit, and it is free! Bill Dring, 30/10/06 -Good venue, friendly staff and a non - pretentious environment with relaxing music, unique bar in oxford. anon, 30/05/06
