The best greasy spoon in Oxford and probably the only true example left (the St Giles' Cafe has at last sucumbed to the tourist trade, Johnson's has gone from Cowley and the Excelsior doesn't really count). You know what you're going to get - it ain't subtle, it's not in any way refined and is probably the closest eating experience you'll get to a soup kitchen but Oxford and indeed Britain needs more places like this. Wouldn't mind seeing some black pudding on the menu though!

This is the real deal - a traditional "caff" that serves decent, honest breakfast grub at reasonable prices - and all with friendly service and no hanging around either. OK the eggs are unlikely to be free range or the sausages organic, but if you're looking for a morning fuel stop on the way into town its recommended. If only there were more places like it.

A proper, self-styled, working man's caff. No unnecessary fuss, just top greasy-spoon grub for a good price. The all-day breakfast is unbeatable. Sausages, bacon, beans, fried bread, fried egg, mushrooms, bread and butter, and a mug of tea or coffee - all for £5.40. You can even swap the mushrooms for chips if that's not enough cholesterol for you already. Hurry along if you want lunch though, it opens early and shuts at 1.30PM.

Have passed this place by umpteen times but finally thought what the heck and tried breakfsat there last Weds. Fantastic bacon sarnie (proper thick bacon) and a good big mug of coffee for £2.90 - I'll be coming back!

Saw the fry-ups being served and they looked excellent - I can see why all the railway men were there. Be brave, go through the door and give this cafe a try - old school but in a good way.

'Typical greasy caff fodder' does not do Mick's justice.
This place has been here forever and is very popular. This is not by chance but because they do very good breakfasts at reasonable prices.
