Best kebab shop in the area. Possibly the best I've had.
hanster, 05/03/10 Kebab originally comes from Anatolia and the people living in Turkey make it according to original recipes. The only place I know making real kebabs in Oxford is Bodrum and the friendly atmosphere is another plus. Once you go into that door, you are in somewhere in Turkey. Thanks to Bodrum Kebab House! N.G., 16/12/09 On the strength of the recommendations on this web site, I went to Bodrum's last night and was not disappointed! Very clean and organised, good selection of kebabs and efficient staff. I had a double (large) kofte kebab. It was great - flavoursome lamb and spicy goodness, not too fatty as koftes can often be, and a high meat content with little in the way of breadcrumb filler you get with inferior kebab houses. Overall score: 8/10 Comment: I would highly recommend Bodrum's, and will be back as soon as possible! keira o'kebabs, 20/11/09 Just ordered a really good pizza and it was the best service ever. Thanks, bodrum, ur a legend :) Bodrums kebabs, 06/06/09 Hello All, OkI hope this little review was helpful for you people :) turkish., 17/04/09 Best place on Earth!!!!!! Nice people in the door, nice fresh food, the grill is superb. PP, 10/04/09 Simply the best kebab like everyone says: even the seating area has got a great atmosphere and I wasn't used to eating kebab on a plate; wooowwww, it's nice really, daily dishes also delicious - it's really nice to have a stew with aubergine and lamb, lots of vegetarian options available, also very rich menu. 12/01/09 The lamb pide is wonderful and the Kofte. Is heaving with people in the restuarant on Sundays evenings. Great place. Sue, 30/11/08 Outstanding quality meat. The best kebabs in Oxford, bar none. Have been going there for years and will continue to do so as long as the high levels of quality, cleanliness and service are maintained. Al, 17/09/08 It's true - Bodrum Kebab is the best kebab place in Oxford!! I used to eat there for 5 years when I lived in Oxford - the shop was always very clean - now I live in London and can't find a good kebab like Bodrum! If you live in Oxford, go and try it! ADNAN FROM LONDON, 29/05/08 Locals always say that Bodrum is the best place to eat kebabs in Oxford, and I agree! My favourite of their kebabs is chicken shish kebab. They've got a day for special chicken doner on Thursdays, they do special Turkish pizza (called lahmajun) and daily freshly cooked home-made casseroles with aubergine, meat and other vegetables, and much more... They're very friendly, there's a seating area... The Bodrum Kebab contains lamb, chicken, kofta meat and doner... simply the all the meats that you can have in one kebab! The food is always of a very high standard. Highly recommended. paul the oxfordian, 19/02/08 I used to always visit Bodrums for my monthly kebab fix so I was gutted when it shut for a re-fit about a year ago. Since it's re-opening (there's now a sit-down area round the side) it still seems as popular as ever if not more so. Having said this i've had a couple of sub-standard kebabs more recently so the only thing I ever buy now are the fantastic baklava (2 pieces for £1). Though I don't indulge in the kebabs so much anymore, the choice is still the best in Oxford and the quality above average generally (though don't bother with naan bread, stick to the pitta). I am also facinated by the probably very much neglected 'casserole' menu. I wonder if anyone has ever bought one of these? Joe B, 08/04/07 It may be a long trek up the Cowley Road if you live on the other side of town, but if you are a serious kebab connoisseur, we think you will find it worth while. The Thursday night chicken kebab is renowned (and very tasty), but the choice during rest of the week is far from limited. As with most of the kebab shops, there is a lot on offer. As well as the standard kebabs and chicken, there are various shish options, including the evocatively named ‘Shazlik’. Oh, and the chips are wonderful! Go into Bodhrum’s on any night and it will be packed. It is a well known option for locals, though there is a certain feeling of anonymity (even for us…) leading to a sterile, perhaps unfriendly atmosphere. The chilli sauce is well flavoured and, mercifully, not too hot. Aioli from Bodhrum’s will keep your friends away for a fortnight, but is fairly watery, so there shouldn’t be any problem with cholesterol. The competition from the kebab shop next door can only help to improve the general quality of the food on offer. The Oxford Kebab Experience Rating: Doner - 7 chicken - 9, sauces - 7, salad - 5, service - 5. Overall 66% Bodhrum £2.50 Shazlik £2.50 Doner £2.30, £2.90 Veggie £2.50 Also available: chips, shish, loads of other stuff, chicken kebab on Thursdays Jasper Smith and Tom Fryer, 24/03/06
