I'm a usual customer of Boss Kebab in Summertown, they got some serious kebabs and chicken kebabs there. They're not expensive and it's a very clean place to eat from. I have been to other kebab vans and could not find the same nice kebab. I also really like the lady who works there, she often gives me free drinks.

If it's a kebab you're after then this place is excellent. Their Shish kebab is really good, made with decent quality beef, always fresh salad and excellent pitta bread. Their chilli sauce is very nice too, freshly made in a pan - not just squirted from a bottle.

Bodrum used to provide my favourite kebabs in Oxford, but now it's the van in Summertown. I can't really comment on their other food, but then you'd have to be completely mad to order anything else anyway.

This is the only kebab van in Summertown, and so it’s pretty good for convenience if you stumble out of some establishment around there at 2am; but otherwise it doesn’t have much going for it. After an inane conversation with the strangely uncomprehending staff, the food we got wasn’t really worth the wait.

The chicken and doner meat were good – both were flavourful and a touch spicy. On the other hand, for £3.50 and £3 respectively, the thing barely fills half a box, and the bread they come in was horribly tough and dry, with only the salad making it edible. Chips (£1.20 for standard) weren’t bad, though maybe a little bit crunchy and oily, but the chicken burger (£2.20) was only mediocre, not nearly as good as the zingy chicken in the kebab.

The worst part, though, is that these were practically the only things on the menu – one of the least extensive in Oxford, so don’t expect much if you’re looking for something a little different.

Nothing special – 5/10

I am a connoisseur of kebab houses in Winchester, Nottingham, Oxford and Brighton and can tell you without hesitation that the kebab van on Banbury Road is head and shoulders above anything else Oxford has to offer (van or premises). All the ones on Cowley road are rude and the food is stingy and not great quality. Banbury Road rules!

Finest Kebab van I've ever eaten from. Not a lot else I can say really...

Exquisite chicken kebabs can be had from the kebab van parked at the top of the parade in Banbury Road, Summertown.
All the Algerian student pilots from Kidlington Airport go the extra distance to buy their kebabs at this van because it's the best in Oxford! I am guilty of being a fallen vegetarian because I tried the boyfriend's chicken kebab and keep going back for more. I have eaten kebabs all over the UK now: Harrow; Edinburgh; Glasgow; Chester; York; Manchester; Oxford of course, but none compare to the Summertown van's. The chicken is tender and juicy, not dry or chewy like others'. If you try it you won't go anywhere else again. I am told that the other variety of kebabs are just as fine, but I haven't tried - however, 100s of Algerians can't be wrong!
