This place is amazing! Friendly service every time, always charming, and no doubt if you do experience bad service it's because you have been rude in the first place. The barmen are lovely, the drinks are lovely, and although decor isn't top notch who cares if you're having a good time?! I LOVE THIRST oxfordsbest (Unverified), 28/08/08 Thirst is a trendy, funky bar that always has such a great crowd. Every time I have been there everyone has been in such great spirits and having a brilliant time, even the barmen. My mate just had her birthday there and the staff couldn't be more helpful, they really made her night special. And to all those people who criticise it - I have heard a new Thirst is opening where G Bar used to be in about a week, so it can't be doing that badly!!! Looking forward to checking it out! Oxford definitely needs bars to be more like Thirst. PS if you want a tasty drink try my favorite - a raspberry Mojito, AMAZING! Oooh and I also heard the lead singer from Embrace has them in there quite a lot as well! TrollyDolly69 (Unverified), 21/07/07 Thirst is terrible. Each time I've been there, the drinks I've been served with taste like squash - full of sugar and chemicals and alcohol bases like the sickly Schnapps. I'm unsure why students are attracted to their pretty amateur attempts at creating a cocktail bar - the staff lack charm and a sense of time management when the queues are massive. If you're looking to get happily tipsy/drunk before a night out, try a pub. And if you are looking for a classy place to take a date/chat with some friends, try the brilliant happy hours elsewhere. oxfordstudent (Unverified), 27/06/07 i go to thirst all the time because the cocktails the guys make me are strong "i always leave legless" they are very friendly and love what they do, there is an old saying you get what you give if your nasty to someone they will bite back, ive always been nice to the chaps at thirst and they treat me like a princess, i always have a fantastic time at thirst i love the sexy bartenders, the music, the cocktails, and the garden.... i know a few guys named paddy and they are all muppets who wouldnt know a good bar if it bit them in there ass xxxxxxxxthirst keep doing what you do your fantasticxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx holly b (Unverified), 30/05/07 I did not think the Thirst bar was as bad as Paddy's review states. But, it depends on who you are. If you're a student studying abroad and want a fun and cheap place to hang out with your friends, this place is for you. If you're looking for high-end cocktails and top of the line decor, then try something else. This place, from what I've found so far, has the cheapest cocktails in Central Oxford for students. At only £1.75, you can get cocktails (classics and new bar-made creations) upon presenting student id or an AAA card (sounds strange, but they never asked for any id when I ordered a drink anyway). There's lists of the cheap cocktails, and then a general bar menu with more expensive choices. For £1.75 a shot or shot and a half in a tasty drink is fine for younger female students like me...especially if you want a place that plays fun songs with a space to dance or chat and clean restrooms. This place is a good one to choose if you're sick of local pubs that don't serve cocktails and you have a tight budget. Orangejem (Unverified), 23/07/06 Rip off merchants. Don't waste your money on the cocktails, once you've managed to wade through the crowd to the bar, and realised the bartenders are to busy throwing bottles to serve the customers and make some money, you'll be absorbed into their world. Do not look at the bottles flying round. Look at the cheap and nasty products that are going in your cocktails and more importantly the amounts. Having waited at the bar for nearly 15 min while the bartender served a lady next to me, I observed that between 1 and 1.5 shots of alcohol are going into these so-called cocktails. More like mocktails. £2.95 on offer and often more. Thirst, please try harder and give the Oxford clientele what they want. A decent cocktail, served professionally with no wastage, whilst the bartender acknowledges others waiting, whilist serving three people at once to reduce the queue at the bar, Suggest boycotting the place. No wonder it's called thirst, you can't get a drink!! PADDY (Unverified), 12/06/06 Please fill in the boxes and then click "Send Review" to submit your review for Thirst Bar. | |
