Caffe Toscano

This place has real charm, decorated with dark woods and various dried, or otherwise preserved, delicacies hanging from the rafters. It only has about five or six tables inside, and two out front.

I've never eaten anything other than eggs on toast here, but the menu is extremely decent, containing Portuguese classics and other variations on pasta, risotto, chicken-and-rice.

I have spied other people's lunches and thought them to look really rather good, and the smell of home-cooking in the place is really very alluring. Prices for food are reasonable, barely exceeding £6 for the most decadent of main courses.

I visit for the coffee. It is very, very nice, and also pretty cheap. An espresso is £1, and is really excellent. If this place were in a trendier part of town, it could easily be twice the price. A refreshing change from chain cafes and style-over-substance one-offs. If you're in Headington, go there!

Just been for a meal here with my partner and two young girls (5 & 3). The food was great and the owner couldn't have been more friendly and helpful even letting us feed the fish. Will be back.

I went here with a friend in the middle of the afternoon and had the loveliest coffee of my life. I do not know the last time I had such a nice latte. We also had the scrambled eggs on toast... perfect snack at an admittedly odd time of day but the guy behind the counter (who is the owner, I believe) was happy to do it for us. Saw someone else eating a risotto that looked really nice as well.

Officially the best hot chocolate that I have ever had!!! Looked amazing and was amazing. Ordered a pancake with fresh fruit and the guy serving said that this would be the best pancake I've ever had and he was 100% right- delicious... Cozy atmosphere, welcoming and good service!

Had a quick lunch yestreday as only had 15 mins. Ordered tomato soup and baguette. Very slow and 15 mins came and went. Soup quite nice, but a bit heavy with garlic slices. I would go there again with more time - menu looks interesting.
