I see no review has been added in a while. I would like to be the first to comment on the place as a gentlemen's club. On entering the club my head was filled with protests for and against a place like this, it was a Saturday night and coming in took quite a while even though it was empty inside. As the night went on it did become more busy which was good. The bar was excellent, a very knowledagable bar lady served me some extremly well made cocktails. The service was always fast and every question I had to ask the bar lady had a very comprehensive and good answer. Compliments. The dancers were surreal to say the least but I have to say it looks as if the place is slightly kept under control besides some obvious staffing flaws the place does well. If you have nothing to do on a night out and end up here it isn't the worst place in the world. But be sure to go to the bar! Oxford01, 29/04/10 Thirst Lodge is so gorgeous! Staff seemed to know their stuff -I had a brilliant night, with yummy cocktails, we didn't even look at the menu- we just said what we liked! Really impressed, plan to have my 21st birthday here! Emily20, 13/11/08 Out late at a club/bar in Oxford and surprised to get pumping music?! Joe B, you're in the wrong place! Thirst Lodge is great! ceedee, 05/07/08 This sort of place has never been my thing but even I can see that the latest incarnation of the old Pennyfarthing pub is decidedly average. In this modern world of liberal drinking hours I object to having to pay £5 to get into a glorified bar with a dancefloor. I was lulled into coming on this ocassion as some friends were already there but I've learnt my lesson now! Next time they'll come to see us. Downstairs is a bar with sofa seating around low tables. The drinks are fairly average though they do have Leffe on tap (halves only). Upstairs is a banging dance floor with a bar. It all feels rather grimy despite its new fittings. The toilets have some dodgy two-way mirror thing going on which whilst interesting seems to have been designed ahead of the toilets themselves which are too cramped (this isn't helped by the token man with the worst job in the world loitering by the sink waiting to dry your hands). Outside there is a small enclosed smoking area which commands fine views of the back of the deserted Bar Med premises. If you like this sort of place then you'll probably love it. I on the other hand think I'll stick to a place where you don't have to shout to have a conversation and that possesses more than an ounce of character. Joe B, 08/04/08
