Excellent Sunday roasts (this weekend it was pork or beef), and many meaty mains. The lamb shank looked like about a quarter of the whole animal (which maybe it was), though I am informed that the effect was mainly achieved by its positioning atop a pile of tasty mash. The Hungarian ghoulash is more beef than you'll have chewed your way through in some time, tender and succulent, and very flavoursome. The beetroot and goats' cheese tart is a delicious combination of tangy and sweet, with pleasingly complimentary textures and a flaxy pastry that doesn't weigh you down half as much as a solid crust version would. The fresh veggies are perfectly cooked and tasty; a few of the better wines were sold out, which was a shame, but the Chilean Sauvignon we did get was just fine, and fairly priced. Desserts and liquer coffees (if you can manage them after your huge mains) are superb; and a whole oven-baked camembert with cranberry loaf to share with your dining companions as a starter is always a good idea if you're starving and not lactose-intolerant. :) We always try to come here for a Sunday treat when enough friends are in town to merit it, and have not been disappointed once on either flavour, quantity or value for money. I would wish that it were closer to my house, but that would make it harder to book (something I'd recommend, especially on weekends) - so I won't. Roo Stuffer, 01/12/08
