Not at all bad if you want somewhere civilised. Bit of a drawback that if you want to get to it from the High you have to navigate the alleyway, but it's worth the effort. The upstairs games room is very nice if you want to escape the occasional yahoos downstairs (noisy, sometimes crowded) but it appears to have no heating. Very chilly. And don't complain about the prices - there's always a pub up the alley.
stephenp (Unverified), 25/01/11 The setting is quite lovely and romantic. The music was a tad too loud for my taste. I felt like I had to scream to talk to my friends. I ordered the White Russian and sadly it was mostly crushed ice with a pinch of alcohol. For £6.50, I was VERY disappointed. I would not recommend it for the drinks at all. It's in a nice location, nice service, but horrible drinks. zoineos (DI User), 03/12/09 Visited recently thinking it was still Sahara but it has now changed hands. The ground floor is still predominantly a cocktail bar with quite a good selection of drinks including a happy hour, even on a Saturday, where most cocktails are half price. I was disappointed by the run-of-the-mill beers on choice though - you expect something a bit more unusual in a classy bar like this. They no longer do any food at all as they have converted the restaurant area upstairs into a "games room" with live sports and an American-style pool table. This could be seen as a good selling point for some but the idea of sinking a few racks whilst sipping on Vodka Martinis just doesn't wash with me. We were advised by the waitress that the bar is linked to The Duke of Cambridge on Little Clarendon Street. This in my mind is both a good and a bad thing. You would guess they have some financial clout as The Duke is very successful.
