I find the Mission irritatingly below par every time I go. It's very close to where I work, so every now and then I pop in and don’t enjoy it! Unfortunately it's a serious case of sub-standard ingredients that let it down. Like the previous reviewer I find the food quite bland, the cheese they charge you extra for is tasteless pre-grated rubbish and is an entirely pointless addition to your food and the chicken and pork are very salty. You need to add sour cream otherwise the uniformly dry meat sticks in your throat (only once have I opted for the steak – trust me, it’s not worth it) and the salad has never been prepared properly so it's always wet and soggy. It's a good concept and should be simple enough to get right. No doubt I'll go back in the hope that it's changed in a few months. Let's hope one day I'm not disappointed!
Dr Mukti (DI User), 27/09/11 Visited this place with my partner recently and the portion sizes were massive for the price. However, we both agreed that there was not enough flavour in the food. There is more flavour in an Old El Paso do-it-yourself kit. Left unsatisfied and with indigestion. If this is what Mexican food 'tastes' like I will stick to Lebanese or Thai in future. Less branding and more flavour would be appreciated. Woody (Unverified), 13/04/11 CC, we're sorry we got it wrong this time and would very much like to make amends. If you'd like to get in touch with me at Sharon@missionburritos.co.uk we'll do what we can to restore your faith in us. Sharon (Unverified), 02/11/10 Just come back from lunch at The Mission and felt compelled to write this review. I'm afraid I have to echo the thoughts of the previous reviewer Texmex. This little eatery used to be a weekly staple with me and my colleagues but as time went on the serving sizes decreased and the prices went up. Having not visited The Mission in about 9 months I thought I would give it another go. When we arrived about at lunchtime the place was empty but by the way we were served you would not think it. Our order was hurried along as small servings of each ingredient were slapped into a box. Given the amount of food served to me, the biggest surprise was left to the till where I was asked to hand over £6.75. At a time where just about every high street restaurant is handing out lunch time specials and vouchers it was quite a shock. I used to recommend The Mission to everyone who would care to listen but sadly this will not be the case any more. I won't be coming back in a hurry. CC (Unverified), 01/11/10 This place is ok. It seems that the serving sizes decrease with every visit (am I really paying that much extra for half a teaspoon of guac?). They should err on the side of giving large servings and generating goodwill, not the other way round.
