Hi, a friend of my Mum's used to work here, her name then was Linda (Lou) Defilippo. My Mum (Sue Hayman/Pope) would love to trace her old friend again. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it. I can be reached at rachael_fulmer@hotmail.co.uk 26/12/10 Though this bakery/cafe looks dated (it's determinedly not prettified itself into a modern snazzcafe) and is rarely full (partly because of its large size), the cakes are excellent, with lardy cake, bread pudding slices, pain au chocolat and Victoria sponges being easily a) cheaper and b) nicer than their shop-bought equivalents - and with loads more cakes and lots of different kinds of breads on display besides. The staff always seem chirpy and helpful too. They were low on bread late on a Saturday morning, suggesting they'd run out rather than that they'd not had the stock in to start with. A poster on the counter indicates that the bread, from Nash's bakery, is made from flour milled by Wessex Mill, one of the UK's smallest family-run flour mills (with a history traceable to the Domesday Book!). Their wheat is sourced from farms in Oxfordshire. Fab. Su Jordan (DI Staff), 13/12/10 Please fill in the boxes and then click "Send Review" to submit your review for Queen's Bakery (Headington). | |
