5 Local Spots to Pick Up Your Eggs This Easter!

While the colours and mega-discounts of the supermarket Easter Egg displays are highly tempting, Easter is a great opportunity to support some fabulous local Oxford businesses, where you can find some special, unique and ethically-sourced treats.

This emporium of gelato and handmade chocolate has long been delighting visitors - and just in time for Easter this year, they're opening up a dedicated Easter Egg shop right in the centre of the Covered Market! Catering to all tastes and budgets, they range from 99p all the way to £85. There are also dairy- and sugar-free options - which is great news for anyone on a restricted diet.

Headington Fairtrade

The haven for all things ethically sourced is a natural choice for a guilt-free egg, knowing that your indulgence supports cocoa farmers and their communities by paying them a fairer price. This year, Headington Fairtrade has stocked up on brands like Divine Chocolate, as well as Fairtrade newcomer Coco Loco, whose marbled chocolate bunnies have grabbed the attention of the national press. They also stock vegan options, and smaller eggs for the Easter Bunny to hide.

Gatineau

Boutique patisserie and chocolaterie Gatineau have created some sumptuous treats in time for chocolate season. Their dark, milk and white chocolate eggs come in three sizes, all handmade in-house by owner and Head Pastry Chef, Herve Gatineau. Decorated by hand, the eggs make for a spectacular display, and with prices starting at £1.95 for the small egg, they're a relatively affordable luxury.

Fairtrade at St Michael's

This Aladdin's Cave of Fairtrade delights, tucked away under a historical church, offers everything you could need for a fun, colourful Easter. As well as an extensive range of Fairtrade eggs and bunnies (plus some special Hot Cross Bun Chocolate from Divine) you can also pick up some hand-crafted decorations celebrating all aspects of spring: fabric and papier mache eggs, birds, flowers and more to liven up your home.

Coco Noir

There are a few Easter Eggs left on sale at Coco Noir but you'll have to hurry, as they're unsurprisingly, if ironically, flying off the shelves! Head along to check out their range, and while you're there, enjoy the other chocolatey delights this shop-come-cafe has to offer.
