The Lovely Eggs' PR company describe their sound as an "explosive blend of motoric krautrock, and 60s psychedelia" but in essence it's your good old-fashioned shouty punk, and proud of it. They're proud to be different, proud to make music exactly how they want, and proud to stand up for something enjoyable in these dark times.
The latest single, described by The Lovely Eggs as "relentless", "fierce", and "like a chip shop on fire", is titled 'I Shouldn't Have Said That' and foreshadows the release of their new album This Is Eggland, out 23rd February.
I don't know whether it says more about marriage or punk, but this duo are indeed married and have a 3-year old son. Some of the album was recorded at home after he was in bed. Do they have a very soundproof studio? Will their son always hear punk music as a lullaby? When he becomes a famous musician perhaps he'll reminisce on chat shows.
Supporting The Lovely Eggs on tour is that-bloke-from-Never-Mind-The-Buzzcocks Phill Jupitus, in disguise as Porky the Poet. He's foul-mouthed and long-winded: the poems are often shorter and sweeter than the poet.
