The Oxford Waits take their name from a real-life band of city musicians, known as 'waits,' who flourished in Oxford during the 17th century. Performers appear in period costume, and superb singing voices are matched by specialist skills in an array of period instruments.

The 5-piece band, comprised of Edward Fitzgibbon, Tim Healey, Caroline Butler, Edwin Pritchard & Ian Giles, treats us to a 17th-century Christmas. This will be a hugely entertaining celebration with Music and Spoken Word; Lute; Baroque Violin; Hurdy Gurdy; Shawm; Hammered Dulcimer; Nyckelharpa (Google them!) and superb singing voices contributing to a splendid seasonal show featuring carols, christmas ballads and lively dances, interspersed with poetry and diary entries of the time from the comic narrator Tim Healey.
