A concert of cello and piano music including Brahms, Beethoven, Francoeur and Martinû
Holywell Music Room, Holywell Street, Oxford OX1 3BN, Fri 11 January 2019
Willard Carter, cello and Julian Trevelyan, piano met as awardees of Awards for Young Musicians. They have since played chamber music together and attended chamber music courses. They have a great working relationship and have plans to keep developing this. They are both committed and passionate young musicians who enjoy exploring what composers are communicating and interpreting a wide variety of chamber music together. The concert is in aid of Awards for Young Musicians who support young talented musicians, but also support and run programmes in some of the UK’s most deprived areas, recognising talent, introducing music, offering mentors, and bringing the joy of music to young people.
Willard has played many recitals in Somerset, Wiltshire, London, and also in Italy and in the USA. He has performed at Windsor Castle and Buckingham Palace. Willard has been supported by Awards for Young Musicians since he was 8 years old with lessons helping him to buy his cello, and supporting his development through performance opportunities and with advice.
Julian studies music at Oxford; he plays the violin and enjoys acting. Julian is most grateful to Awards for Young Musicians for support, both financial and with performance opportunities, throughout his early musical studies. This played a large part in enabling him as a teenager to win laureates at a number of international piano competitions.
