Flux tells the story of Kate, a physicist in the 1980s. Based on the work of female scientists, the production explores how a woman finds a place in the male-dominated field she is part of. Having previewed as part of this year's Offbeat Festival the show returns to the Old Fire Station as part of its autumn tour.

Theatre company Smoking Apples create theatre focusing on challenging subject matters, and use puppetry and visual theatre to tell each story. Flux looks to marry life-sized puppets, a set of light and shows and a filmic score, all to tell a story that is as relevant today as it ever has been.
