Tap Social Movement, 27 Curtis Industrial Estate, North Hinksey Lane OX2 0LX, Wed 20 February 2019
Upcycled Sounds and Tandem Collective, in partnership with Inner Peace Records, present: Grey Tapes, with support from Limpet Space Race and Tiece.
Grey Tapes’ music traces the lines between hip hop, trip hop, jazz, electronica, ambient and lo-fi dream pop. Grey Tapes endeavour to keep live electronic music truly live - avoiding clicks, sequencers or backing tracks in favour of live sample triggering and instrumentation. Everything you hear is played manually by a finger, an arm or leg.
For fans of Joni Mitchell, Tame Impala and Unknown Mortal Orchestra, new Oxford duo Limpet Space Race may be just the band for you. Niko O’Brien and Hannah Jacobs mishmash jazz, pop and folk to experiment within an accessible pop style, messing around with homemade instruments and unusual rhythms and harmonies. They like to keep things live, not using backing tracks or drums machines, and just having fun with how much noise two people can make.
Tiece is one of the most talented and emotive singers you will ever have experienced in the flesh, “...smoky, seductive voice; chilled neo-soul vibes and slow, witchy, trip-hop grooves... guaranteed to grab your attention”. Tiece has a unique style, unique ideas and a voice to back it!
