3 applicants sit before you. 1 job is up for grabs…who will win?
Tap Social Movement, Mon 4 March - Wed 6 March 2019
Whatnot Theatre is an Oxford-based company with a difference - rather than performing on traditional stages, they aim to transform unusual spaces into theatres for a limited time. The goal is to bring theatre to people who wouldn't normally go to the theatre - so if you don't go to the theatre then this is the show for you. Their latest experiment is theatre in a brewery!
Tap Social Movement is a brewery like no other: they produce 'criminally good beer', in doing so providing training and employment for people currently serving and recently released from prison sentences. 50% of people released from prison reoffend within one year, but having a job makes people 67% less likely to reoffend.
In a truly collaborative project, Whatnot's first full production centres this concept: the audience will become part of the interview panel for a job. There are 3 applicants, all of whom have served time in prison, grappling with questions of whether or not to declare this fact and run the risk of not getting the job. Sparking questions about human nature, accountability, social justice and beer, this show promises to be accessible and thought-provoking.
