Bringing together emerging artists from around the world to celebrate unique musical traditions.
North Wall Arts Centre, South Parade, Oxford OX2 7NN, Mon 4 November 2019
The Making Tracks programme started in 2010 with the aim of bringing together talented musicians from every corner of the globe, with a new roster of artists each season. Touring multiple venues across the UK, the group's performances celebrate and blend different musical traditions, inspiring collaborations and establishing a worldwide family of artists who are socially and environmentally engaged. For the Oxford stop of the group's UK tour, the North Wall Arts Centre will welcome Making Tracks’ 2019 Fellows, including Louise Bichan (Orcadian fiddler, Scotland), Rapasa Otieno (nyatiti and obokano player, Kenya), Barbora Xu (kantele and guzheng player, Czech Republic), Luna Silva (vocalist, France/UK/Spain), Melisa Yildirim (kamancha spiked fiddle player, Turkey), Kaviraj Singh (santoor player, UK/India) and Katariin Raska (Estonian bagpipe, mouth harp, saxophone). These artists will play a combination of solo and collaborative pieces in what will be a superb celebration of world music's emerging artists.
