Come and have a kick-about with Oxford's friendliest women's football club!
CANCELLED during coronavirus closures
Oxford University Sports Complex, Jackdaw Lane, Iffley Road, Oxford OX4 1EQ, every Wednesday from 9 October 2019
For anyone looking for a fun and friendly way to exercise more regularly, Jackdaws FC is a perfect place to start. This amateur women's team was formed by a group of friends inspired by The Lionesses (England women's national football team) qualifying for the World Cup in 2015, and has since grown into an official club - complete with kit - and a supportive community.
Anyone wishing to join can simply turn up to a training session - all abilities are welcome and encouraged, the only requirement is enthusiasm. No registration or commitment is required; many team members attend on a casual basis depending on their schedules, so the modest training fees (£5 per session) are pay-as-you-go, although there is an option to pay monthly if you prefer. Typically, the hour-long sessions comprise of drills followed by a casual match (roughly 5-aside, depending on how many attendees there are) - scattered with laughter and culminating in a visit to the nearby Chester pub.
The club meets primarily to train for fun, but they do enter contests throughout the year: again, these are open to all and are not taken too seriously! Socials are also a semi-regular fixture.
So if you are looking to develop your skills, have fun and make new friends, Jackdaws FC is the club for you.
