Yoga has become so widespread as a pastime for Western people to exercise and improve their mindfulness that it can be easy to forget the Indian origins of the tradition, and fall into the trap of cultural appropriation. There is no easy fix, but the fabulous folk at Yoga Quota are hosting a seminar with yoga diversity coach Susanna Barkataki.
Susanna will share some of her wisdom gained through professional and personal experiences as a yoga practitioner and teacher in this workshop, which is open to all. Teachers and students of yoga alike will gain insight into making yoga more inclusive, while honouring its traditional roots and respecting the philosophies that produced it.
Profits from this workshop will support the work of Yoga Quota, an Oxford-based charity which encourages people who can afford it to pay more for yoga lessons, to subsidise lessons and retreats for interested people on lower incomes.
