Abingdon Pride kicks off with music and entertainment on the main stage at Market Square in Abingdon.

This is Abingdon’s first Pride, following the decision by the newly-elected Town Council to fly the rainbow flag from the County Hall in support of Oxford Pride and the town’s LGBT+ residents. The event is being organised by volunteers from the town, and is supported by local businesses and the town council.

Community and Trade stalls will line the Market Square until 5pm. Visitors can find out all about the LGBT+ activities and groups running stalls while listening to some brilliant live music, with acts including local musicians Nina Jade and Captain Kuppa T and the Zeppelin Crew, and home-grown drag act, Jelly Cube.

There will be things to discover throughout the day, with The Abbey Cinema showing a one-off screening of Pride and later the same evening, the Elton John biopic Rocketman. For LGBT+ folk and allies wanting to demonstrate their creative side, Pablo Lounge is hosting an Open Mic and Poetry Slam, and the evening activities will continue with a party at the Kings Head and Bell pub.
