Christmas Light Festival 2018

Founded in 2009, Oxford’s Christmas Light Festival has become a key date on the city’s cultural calendar. This year the theme ‘Undiscovered Oxford ’ explores the city’s hidden highlights with installations, illuminations, performances and events over an exciting weekend from Friday 16th to Sunday 18th November.
Venues around Oxford, Fri 16 November - Sun 18 November 2018

The Christmas Light Festival has grown every year since it began in 2009, and this year it promises to be bigger than ever: a 3-day extravaganza of no fewer than 40 events, showcasing a variety of talents all united through the exploration of light. Expect a multisensory experience from 5 main hubs at Broad Street, Westgate, Gloucester Green, Oxford Castle Quarter and Bonn Square. The annual lantern parade will be complemented by striking pop-up art installations, parties, outdoor performances from local choirs, bands and theatre groups, and art workshops.

This year's theme is 'Undiscovered Oxford', so alongside seeing some of your favourite venues displayed in unusual ways, you can expect to encounter new aspects to our ever-changing city, whether through the diversity of the Voice Park exhibition, or the talents of disabled artists' collective ROARsomes. The vast majority of the activities are free and family friendly, and with so much choice there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
