Inside , the Pub shows exposed beams and well maintained vintage Bar, wooden floor, roaring fire places and beautiful wood and leather furniture. A cozy and elegant Restaurant available for diners, with a well presented Menu and Specials Board. Many years ago, this Pub was hosting the King during a storm, hence its name. Good selection of cask beer and wines. Dogs welcome in the gardens.

Smallish pub with charm, refurbished & reinvented in 2009. Sandwiches served all day. The bicycle hanging up outside is disappointingly free of rust, but perhaps this is the landlord's declaration that he intends the pub to be around for a while. Delivery available through Deliveroo.

Special offers make it even cheaper to eat some things on particular nights. Special gluten-free menu that's smaller but just as colourful, and vegetarian food cooked in a separate fryer, make special diets easy. The kids' menu considers health and contains appealing options such as pasta filled with cheese and hidden veg!

The Six Bells at 3 Beaumont Road in Headington Quarry was originally a private house and dates in part from 1782. It was a pub by the early nineteenth century, and was named after the six bells of St Andrew's Church (its parish until 1849). It was a free house in 1882 when Morrells Brewery (who had previously supplied the beer) bought it. When Morrell's Brewery closed in 1998 it became a Greene King pub.

Replacing The Living Room in May 2014, The Oxford Slug & Lettuce is one of 70 that the chain runs throughout the country. They serve a large and varied food menu with daily promotions, along with draught and bottled lagers, wines, cocktails and more.

The menu covers the sorts of things you'd expect, done well, and gluten-free and vegan items (yes, there's more than one vegan option!) are marked clearly. Wetherspoon pub named after the former Swan and Castle (1896), which was adjacent before its demolition in the 1970s.

Situated alongside the attractive Windrush River and very much at the heart of the local village community in Swinbrook, The Swan has a rich history associated with it. The Inn is owned by the Dowager Duchess of Devonshire’s estate, the last of Mitford sisters, and – along with the neighbouring cottage – forms the residual part of the estate inherited by the family at the beginning of the nineteenth century. Photographs around the pub celebrate the connections to the Mitfords and village life.

The Compton Swan is a gorgeous village pub with six letting bedrooms nestled in the village of Compton, Berkshire. Around 19.3 km from Newbury, The Compton Swan offers high-quality dining and stylish accommodation with free parking and Wi-Fi. Just over 30 minutes’ drive from Oxford and Reading, this Berkshire village inn has a large garden and a library area with log fire.

Interesting split-level pub with an older clientele than the local student crowd. Its most interesting feature is its beer from a Yorkshire micro-brewery. Also seem to do nice food. Menu is clearly marked for vegetarian and gluten-free options.

Private hire: The conference room seats 30 people. The day delegate rate is £28 per person, and includes tea / coffee, biscuits, choice of menu for lunch, room hire, OHP screens, flipcharts, pens, pads and bottled water. Rambling riverside pub in the attractive village of Wolvercote, an hour's walk across Port Meadow (or a 10-minute drive from Oxford centre, up Woodstock Road and turn left). Peacocks, extensive outdoor seating, pretty bridge joining terrace to a private garden on the other side of the river. VERY popular in summer, especially with students taking visiting parents. Its foundations and use as a malt house and drinking tavern date back to 1381. Frequented by students, locals and celebrities alike. It's also where former Australian Prime Minister Bob Hawke set a Guinness World Record for consuming a yard glass of ale in 11 seconds in 1963. Local legend also has it that former U.S. president Bill Clinton, while attending Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar, infamously "did not inhale" during an evening of carousing at the pub. Other famous guests include Richard Burton, Elizabeth Taylor, Tony Blair, CS Lewis, Stephen Hawking and the cast of Harry Potter.
