A literal stone's throw from Carfax, the crossroads that marks the centre of the city of Oxford, Old Tom has provided a welcome watering hole for Oxford's town and gown since at least the end of the 17th century. In its three or so centuries of history, Old Tom has enjoyed many faces. Today it is a unique experience that perfectly combines old world English pub sensibilities with the very best in Thai cuisine. Old Tom is sister restaurant to the highly successful Monkey and Me in London's Marylebone. Both restaurants serve delicious Thai food that stays true to its Eastern origin.

I come back to the Old Tom again and again for the excellent Thai food. The menu offers a good selection, everything is tasty and fresh. The pad thai and curries are my favourites, and it says something that after living away from Oxford for a year, the first place I visited when coming back was the Old Tom for the food. Staff are relaxed and friendly too. Really the best place to get food in the town centre so check it out!

Just went in for a quick lunch today, it was delicious. They also have a selection of lunch dishes. @ £6.50

Best Thai I've had in Oxford. Reasonable prices, excellent food, pub atmosphere.
Most of the time when I visit people are nice and smiley and very very helpful! The food was great, and very good portions for the price you pay. There was hardly anybody inside the pub. So on the good side- have the Thai food, it's good value for money.

I concur with the other reviews: the Pad Thai I had here for lunch recently was very good with lots of fresh, crunchy bean sprouts and carrot running through the well-flavoured and perfectly cooked noodles. Fresh coriander was scattered on top and the chicken pieces felt like real chicken rather than reconstituted rubbish. A nice scattering of peanuts to one side of the bowl finished it off perfectly. I was relieved, as I hadn't gone with high expectations, but decided to have faith in others' recommendations and risk it - it was worth the risk.

My lunch cost £6.95 and I think the vegetarian options are a little less expensive so it's really very good value for a substantial, well cooked dish. I intend to go back and sample more of the menu!
The food is incredible for the price you pay. We had the Thai food rather than from the British menu. It was served quickly and the portions were perfect. 

The staff were friendly and helpful and there was a great atmosphere. I'd come here for drinks in the summer and the garden is lovely and was busy the evening we were served there.

Reading the other reviews here I think things must have changed for the better as we were all students and were very welcome, I'm just surprised I hadn't been here before as I walk past it every day. I will certainly be returning!
Great new managment. The new deco is very smart but cosy at the same time. The Thai food delicious, fresh and really quickly made. and such a good price! Really nice atmosphere:) Definitely will come back, and spread the word around...
This place has changed and much for the better. Not sure when new management took over but the interior has been smartened up and they serve Thai food here now. Four of us had dinner there on Saturday with starters about £4 and mains @ £7 - it was all very tasty and we had good service.

Was a really nice atmosphere, had a nice evening at this place and will go back. Pub grub prices for food but restaurant quality, very good value for money and friendly staff.

Very pleasant pub, recommend it.
