Templars Square Shopping Centre
Shopping centre cafe serving hot drinks, pastries and other snacks, plus more substantial lunch menu (jackets, paninis, etc). Friendly service, used to catering for all ages, from the tiniest high-chair user (and parent juggling cups) to afternoon tea for retired folks. Potted palms and split-level site make for interest, and the whole space seems open and spacious. The menu is straightforward but things like fruit juices are more natural without artificial ingredients; it's not awash with sugary carbonated tooth-rotting drinks, and is therefore kind for families.

The African & African-Caribbean Kultural Heritage Initiative promotes the cultural heritage of peoples of African and African Diasporic heritage and descent. A delicious part of this project is their Wednesday lunchtime community pop-up restaurant at the East Oxford community centre. The menu changes weekly; there are usually 3 meat options, 1 fish and 1 veggie, and everything comes with deliciously garlicky rice and peas. Service is friendly but you may have quite a wait for your food - don't try to eat here if you have to rush off somewhere soon.
