One of the better Indian restaurants in North Oxford, Bagicha is situated in the quaint lane of North Parade. For a Tuesday night, the place was packed with people, and the atmosphere seemed suitable for all groups: families, couples, and business colleagues. It is open from 7-11pm every night including bank holidays, and has plenty of space to seat large groups of people, despite having low ceilings to make the room look deceptively intimate. The décor was pleasant, everywhere a clean white with pretty Indian stencil sketches on the walls.

There was much to choose from on the menu, although, nothing new from the usual Indian cuisine, all priced reasonably at around £5/6. Having been to many curry houses in the city, I know what my favourite dish is - and as most people do - my companion and I chose our usual favourites, his being a chicken madras, and me, being of Asian decent and therefore having to prove my authenticity, chose a lamb vindaloo. To accompany the main dish we chose naan bread (£1.50) and pilau rice (£1.95). I was impressed by the spiciness of the vindaloo; I like curries which are nose-runningly hot!

The price for two without drinks came to £17, which I thought was very reasonable and the service was extremely attentive. And to finish, we were spoilt with a hot towel and a minty chocolate. Since the main portions were filling, there was no need for dessert. Recommended, definitely.
