Trauma is the latest disappointing britflick to suffer from a nonsensical plot and showy direction. It has an impressive cast, featuring Colin Firth as Ben, an artist losing his mind after his wife's death. At the same time, Ben becomes implicated in the murder of a famous pop star. This horror thriller attempts to keep us on edge by reflecting Ben's fragmented psyche, but as a result it's impossible to follow what's going on. Once the credits rolled, I still had no idea what had happened, or even which characters had been real or imaginary.David Haviland, September 2004 |
