Daily Info's own Richard Brotherton is a singer, songwriter, promoter and multi-instrumentalist who has been a regular feature on the Oxford live music scene for almost 30 years.
As a solo performer, Richard's material is rooted in traditional acoustic delta blues often with a quirky twist. This song, 'Winter Angel' is a departure from this style with a more folk feel performed on a 12-string guitar; it is a sweet seasonal tale that started with a walk home late one night through a field draped in snow...
He is the host of Reverend Black's Acoustic Cabaret at The Half Moon, performing acoustic blues, country & folk, classic rock, plus some guilty pleasures and inappropriate covers at Oxford's favourite free late-night live music venue and showcasing the best local music artists.
His previous projects have encompassed a wide range of musical styles including:
The world's finest (and only) worldfolkpunkskiffle band Inflatable Buddha who have toured Canada with their show 'Inflatable Buddha: Bigger Than Jesus', played at venues and festivals around the country including many times at the Glastonbury Festival and were the house band at Oxford's celebrated 'Queen Of Clubs Cabaret' where many of the Daily Info team enjoyed partying until the wee small hours.
Local blues-rock bands Reverend Black and Brotherhood Of Mack
Performance art, punk pop and psychedelic weirdos The Goggenheim
Crazy, improvised, percussive world dance collective The Geee's
He regularly accompanies local community choir Oxford City Singers who perform twice a year at SJE Arts and were the opening act on the main stage at the first year of Oxford's Common People festival
He was also one of the original performers at Hammer & Tongue, the heart of Oxford's live spoken word scene and was a winner of the poetry slam in 2004
He once played a gig in Swindon.
