For the perfect winter wonderland, head to Waddesdon Manor (near Aylesbury). They’ve pulled out all the stops to create magical experiences for everyone – whether you’re a festive foodie or looking for Insta-worthy illuminations.

This year’s attractions include a winter light trail, light shows with music, sparkling illuminated gardens and a traditional Christmas market. Artist Leo Villareal – who specialises in working with light - is exhibiting his work to celebrate the completion of Illuminated River – the longest public art commission in the world. Inspired by this, the Waddesdon team have also worked with local schoolchildren to create a trail of lanterns and illuminated boats along Miss Alice’s Drive.

Waddesdon’s Christmas Fair offers a fantastic way to do your Christmas shopping out in the fresh air, and to support indie businesses and artisan crafters. Set against the floodlit North Front of the Manor, all stalls are housed in charming wooden chalets, dotted amongst twinkling trees.

Opening times: daily to Thur 23 Dec, 12-7pm (inc Mon 20 and Tue 21 Dec)
