Mother's Day in Oxford 2022

Spring is here and it's time to celebrate mums! Can't think of anthing to do? Don’t worry, we’ve got your back! Whatever floats your ma’s boat there’s something to do together in Oxford this Sunday.

Meals and Markets

Head down to the Jam Factory for a yummy breakfast to start your day or a delicious lunch where you can choose from a special Mother's Day set menu or have a scrumptious Sunday roast instead! Finish off your meal with a wander around their art market, which will feature stalls selling paintings, sketches, pottery, and plants. To add a little something extra to your day, a portrait artist will be on hand to draw Mum or your family for free! Make sure to reserve a table to not miss out!

Woodland Adventures

Do something a little different this year and spend Mother’s Day in the woods! Have a fun-filled afternoon with your mum at Fat Squirrel Outdoors where you can make orange chocolate brownies over the campfire, get involved in some soft archery games, and even make your own unique souvenir to take home as a memento of the day. All complete with the opportunity to relax around a campfire. Encourage Mum to join in on the axe throwing contest later in the day where they have a chance to win a prize! However if they don't win, not to worry as all mums will receive a special gift to make the day even more memorable.

Sunday Stroll

Many of you will be giving flowers to your mum on Sunday, but how about taking her to see a whole eight acres of them?! Escape the city and take a relaxing stroll through Waterperry’s beautifully landscaped ornamental gardens for a magical afternoon soaking up the sunshine (this weekend is forecasted to be sunny!) whilst surrounded by nature. Top it all off with a visit to their tea shop and treat yourself to some afternoon tea where you can dig into a selection of delicious homemade cakes, scones and savoury nibbles.

Evening Entertainment

What’s better than the gift of laughter? End the day with some entertainment and take your mum to an evening of amusement with a Mother’s Day special comedy show at the Bullingdon. The ‘Desi Central Comedy Show’ features hilarious stand-up comedians Kae Kurd, Tez Illyas, Kane Brown and Tommy Sandhu and is sure to be a memorable night. You can book tickets here!

Alternatively, if a stand up show isn’t your mum’s cuppa tea why not take her to see Flintlock Youth Company’s play ‘Hangmen’ which won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Play in 2016. The plot follows Harry, England's second best hangman, as he struggles to adjust to life after the death penalty is abolished. Tickets range from £8 to £10 and you can book here.
